Rudbeckia ‘Sunbeckia’ in Production

The ‘Sunbeckia’ can be produced from a liner to a finished plant in about 9-11 weeks. Here some keynotes for production:

  • liners are available from different rooting stations in 50 to 84 cell trays.
  • potting weeks:
    • from week 14, for early summer production
      • just after bedding plants
      • important is a 12h daylength
    • until week 26 and 28 for late summer and fall production.
      • perfect also in fall and performce great in sun and rain until frost!
  • pot sizes
    • minimum is a 1gal container (8″)
    • 1,5 gal (12″) container is fine too
    • smaller sizes like a 6″ pot are only possible with a special selection of varieties and ebb&flow watering in production
  • irrigation system
    • drip-irrigation
    • overhead irrigation is possible as well
      • even in a flowering crop without any problems

Rudbeckia ‘Sunbeckia and Growth Retardants

Growing outdoor is the best way to get a perfect crop. Growing under glas or plastic needs more PGR applications.

The branching starts already 2 weeks after transplanting. Now the first PGR applicaton is necessary, 4 week after transplant next application. More applications depending on the situation and progress of the crop and time of the year.

Rudbeckia ‘Sunbeckia’ in retail

Depending on the start and the overall schedule, the Rudbeckia can be offered as a finished product from mid May until end of September. Especially in fall ‘Sunbeckia’ are perfect ‘Color Spots’ in your Gardencenter and retail outlet. The outstanding outdoor performance offers a lot of decoration possibilities with Grasses and other fall items.
