- no pinching – less work
- extremly decorativ
Trials in Italy
Gruppo Padana in Paese / Treviso is trialing this year some products from Bull Plant Genetics. On 3rd July we recieved some nice pictures out of the trial area.
The plants have been shipped and transplanted in week 18 from a 60 cell tray into 30cm containers on the field. After 9 weeks they just start going into flower with a lot of buds coming out of the center of the plant.
Even with temperatures between 80°-90°F the plants look freshly green and willing to grow. Echincaea ‘SunMagic Vintage’ series good in all climates!
Netherlands
We reported already in our last post, that Oase Plants B.V. in Helenaveen is growing some ‘Sunbeckia’ (https://svenmagnussen.com/2023/06/25/some-news-on-sunbeckia/). After 10 weeks of growing they shipped in week 26 the first finished plants to the customer.
Oase Plants B.V. is also trialing some Echinacea ‘SunMagic Vintage’ this year with good result so far. The plants are not finished yet but do extremly good. The branching is just perfect.
A couple more weeks and this crop of ‘SunMagic Vintage’ in different colors will finsh with a lot of flowers. Since the plant comes now into the generative stage a lot of nutrients are needed. We recommend to maintain a EC of 2,5 mS, using a well balanced fertlizer like ICL 18-11-18 or 20-10-20.
In wk 24 the well known F.N. Kempen in Mijdrecht also planted his Echinacea ‘SunMagic Vintage Red’ out of a 104 cell tray. They should be ready in week 34. We will see soon.
North of Germany / Röttger Baumschulen
Good quality we have seen also in a nursery specialized in growing Roses. Beside Roses Röttger Baumschulen grows a fair amount of perennials in 19cm containers. The first transplant of the Echinacea was made in wk 16 in a double layer ‘Thermohouse’. This crop finished after 11 weeks in good quality. The picture shows a Echinacea ‘SunMagic Vintage Orange’.
So also under plastic cover the ‘SunMagic Vintage’ series is doing perfect.
Bull Plant Genetics / Production from Hartwig Bull
In wk 20 Hartwig Bull did transplant his own production direct on the field. The cold weather in end of may with night temperatures around 45°-50°F was not beneficial but the ‘SunMagic Vintage’ developed anyway. Below can show some different stages out of the last weeks. The transplanting was done on 17th May.
If you are looking for a different Echinacea, go for the Echinacea ‘SunMagic Vintage’ Series.
