‘Sunbeckia’ at ‘Australian Horticultural Trials Week 2022’

JD Propagation presented the Rudbeckia ‘Sunbeckia at ‘Australian Horticultural Trials Week 2022’ to the industry.

It has been the second year now that JD Propagation is a root and sell partner for Bull Plant Genetics. The Rudbeckia ‘Sunbeckia’ and Echinacea ‘SunMagic’ are very brilliant products displayed at JD Propagations “Kaleidoscope of Colour” from 06. – 09. Dec.  2022

The Kaleidospope coined by the Scottish inventor David Brewster got it’s name out of the greek language and has the meaning of “observation of beautiful forms”.  The BPG products have been part of JD’s “Kaleidoscope of Colours”, just beautiful forms!

JD Propagation is located in Pearcedale Victoria and presented ‘Sunbeckia’ planted in beds in 2021. Pretty easy to bring something throught the winter with minimum temps of 6-7°C (44°F).  No snow and frost but some natural pinching by rabbits, made the beds looking real good.

So there is big potential for USDA Hardiness Zones 7 – 10 in which a ‘Sunbeckia’ is a perennial, which is for sure another added value.

JD Propagation got also some experience with combos of ‘Sunbeckia’.  Combos can be grown in 10 L containers for solitary plants. Those eye-catcher find a perfect place on the patio or at the house entrance. They are doing a spectacular show.

Rudbeckia ‘Sunbeckia’ in 4L (1gal) containers

The ‘Sunbeckia’ in 4L containers just started to open the terminal flower for the ‘Australian Horticultural Trials Week 2022’.

From this stage on, growers have about 3 weeks time for packing. The enormous durability of the flower and overall shelf life at the point of sale is a tremendous USP of ‘Sunbeckia’.

Echinacea ‘SunMagic’

After all we should not forget to mention the Echinacea ‘SunMagic’. The ‘SunMagic’ are the new bench mark in branching. First they grow, then they flower! This series is phenomenal!

In the same way like the ‘Sunbeckia’ the Echinacea ‘SunMagic’ performed well in the beds, planted 2021 (see below). More details you find under: Echinacea ‘SunMagic is different!

Due to the hardiness of USDA Zone 5, they are brilliant as a perennial. The enormus amount of flowers in the first year makes this cultivar almost to perennial with annual characters. I would say, another added value to the crop.

Below some Echinacea ‘SunMagic Vintage’ series in the store, day one and day two. So nothing wrong about that!
